Hi there! Has anybody got any feedback/experience, with Amber from Angelina's cafe? They appear to have a lot of schools to select from. However, they want me to accept a contract without an interview over the telephone. This makes me uncomfortable. Any information you have on this group would be helpful. Thanks!

I was accepted for my current university position and my previous high school job (via a recruiter) without having a phone interview. I'm under the impression that it's quite normal.

seems normal to me too!

I didn't get the interview, just got the contract directly.

It's not unusual to be hired without an interview, but the question is: Who is that "cafe"?
They probably are agents, and in that case I would be less than enthusiastic about joining their labour force.
Are you based in the same country as that potential employer? If yes, then it would really be a little strange for them not to want to talk to you over the phone!

Agencies can be tricky. I got several calls and emails from a guy named "Jeff" from Qingdao, asking us how many teachers the school needed. I remembered the email and know already that they charge 15,000 RMB per teacher. The represented are a group of Australians. Our school tends to hire people who come to us, or we hire locally. We don't go to them other than through ads.
