Madonna just gave me a high five!

seriously!!!

But that high-five cost me 7000HKD in air tickets and 300GBP for concert tickets, and I had to take unpaid leave for the trip....

So, what is the stupidest ever reason for going home?? (mine is Madonna's tour didn't extend to Asia!), I am so paranoid that I'm going to regret it when I'm feeling broke at xmas time, but hey - all I can say right now is

When you call my name
it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees
I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour
I can feel your power
Just like a prayer
You know I'll take you there!

Hey Joachim,

I thought your story was cool, not stupid at all.

There will be plenty of chances to make money in the future but perhaps never again will you have the chance to high five Madonna.

Good on you for following your impulses and having a once in a lifetime kind of experience.

Meanwhile, I've never gone home for a stupid reason or for that matter done anything stupid so I can't really... oh, wait, I worked at Nova for three years...

Were you going anyway and Madonna was just the "icing on the cake?" If not it's pretty bizarre. Flying around the world to see a gig is OK but I wouldn't do it for Madonna...If Madonna were playing a free show here on campus I think I would go to great lengths to avoid it. Wink There's no accounting for taste I guess.

Madonna could pretty much be replaced with anybody and the post wouldn't lose any significance.
I would stick the earmuffs on too Lagerlout.

i think he name is esther now. she sings versions of her songs with bagpipes and fondles her pregnant dancers. it sounds like a joke, but it's true. she's getting as weird and out of touch as jacko.

It's especially sad when you consider what a wonderful and talented performer she once was.

Oops.

I would possibly go back for a Stones concert, but they play all over the world when they're touring, anyway. I saw them in Chicago - man that was awesome.

I haven't been home yet, so I can't really answer the question posed in the OP. I will go back in January chiefly for my dogs, whom I miss immensely!

Ah yes, and the family as well.

Superb!

Not sure what the stupidest reason ever for going home might be but well done Joachim for flying half way round the globe for a concert.

Hell yeah!

And as for the knockers, unfortunately they, like the poor, may always be with us, but in their emotional and social impoverishment they fail to understand the emotional dynamics of devotion, and that is their loss.

Just don't come to me expecting to borrow money at Christmas!!

Joachim;
I hope your trip home was worth it and wonderful. I know that I am paying an arm and a leg to see my favourite musician right here in HK and I am thrilled about it. Would I fly around the world to see him? Sure, if it were the first time.

people fly home for sillier reasons. I went home for 5 weeks because I thought I should and had to. Possibly the most wasted vacation of my life.

Oh well....

Hola!

Reasons to take your ass home.

I left the front door unlocked.

I left the stove on.

I just had to have Mexican food.

I had to vote for John Kerry and I do not trust absentee ballots.

I had to see the final of "American Idol".

RUSH and STEELY DAN are going to perform on the same stage at the oldies show at the Iowa state fair.

The IRS threatened to shoot my parents if I did not pay my delinquent charges.

Courtney Love is having a party.

I want to leave China and visit a weird foreign land.

Senor

Andy and Seth,

Don't diss Madonna!!!, come on now, that is just not nice!

And she is the best performer around at the moment, by far. If you don't like pop music, that's your choice, but there is no way you can discredit her live performance until you see it for yourself!

And by the way, the bagpipes thing was just a kind of wierd intro to "Get Into The Groove" - and it was coooool!

Madonna: One of the few women over 40 who I would never tell to get out of my bed.
