Hello,
I just arrived in Hsinchu (I will be teaching in the science park for a year) and have a few questions (listed in order of importance to me):
1. I would like to take Chinese lessons. I am thinking of asking a student-teacher or teacher at my school to tutor me privately. How much should I charge? (I am not interested in "language exchange.")
2. My school is offering to give me 5000 NTD for housing. Does anyone know where the best place is to seek affordable housing in Xsin Chu is? Alternatively, does anyone have a place to rent out?
3. Is anyone selling a scooter?
Many thanks!
z.
PS: Wow, that's some rain!!!! |

You shouldn't charge for Chinese lessons. They are teaching you not the other way around. I think you mean how much should you pay. How much do you value the lesson as that is how much you really should pay...if you are undisplined like I am I believe Taipei Language Institute now has a branch in Hsinchu and would charge roughly $300 NT an hour for one-on-one lessons which should give you an idea of what to pay. |
