greetings,
i'm looking into teaaching opps in Poland and am curious about the food...is it as "meaty-starchy" as often portrayed, or are there more vegetarian-friendly options?
i'd appreciate your insights.
peace,

| There are plenty of vegetarian options in Poland, especially in the main cities. For further information, check out the Lonely Planet guidebook to Poland. They have a food section |

Czesc:
Yeah, vegetariamism was once a dirty 4 letter word in Poland but is becoming more accepted now (so I hear). That being said, the main staples are still meat, fish, and potatoes (the Bigos is to die for though). I knew a few vegetarians when I was there and none of them complained of it being a problem... |

Ask when you get there.
It is to die for.
You either love it or hate it. and then you learn hoe to cook it the way you like it. |

| Agreed. Bigos is to die for. It must be homemade though, the store bought stuff isn't that great. |

And it must be 50/50 fresh and pickled.
Some people make it without meat as well. I believe they add more mushrooms and we know how good they are in Poland. |
