Hello,

I've searched the previous messages and read the job info journal and there doesn't seem to be too much written about this city. Would anyone be willing to share their experience and/or knowledge of Jinan? Any help you could give me would be fantastic...

Thanks,

I spent a month in Ji'nan way back in the last century. Don't think the place has undergone as big changes as other cities have.
The climate is pleasant if you can put up with dry hot summers and rather cold winters with no snow. Add to this permanent dust in the air.
Ji'nan is a place to give a miss. It has very little in the way of tourist attractions. Personally, I was impressed by the few remaining German-style buildings, some of which were in good repair.
Like the natives in Qingdao, Ji'naners are a beer-swilling crowd and very hospitable.
My supposedly brand-new apartment had no bath and no shower because "it gets too cold here in winter..." I used to spend weekends in neighbouring towns such as Qingdao, Tai'an, Xuzhou - just to soak myself in a hot bath and get all the grime out of my skin.

Thanks Roger.

The bathing thing might be a concern. I dated a girl from this town and she did talk about the dust. I like the idea that it may not be a tourist town. Another plus is its location - roughly between Beijing and Shanghai. And you can't go wrong with friendly people!

I guess I'll know for sure unless I see for myself. That's the risk/excitment job/location hunting from the other side of the world...
