zorro,
How far off are you from the 'Big Boys' salary of B 120,000 per month?
You get an apartment also?
Definitely worth it - I'd say a B.Ed is probably just as useful, if not moreso, than an M.A. TESOL in landing lucrative teaching positions.
Hong Kong's NET scheme is another lucrative system for ex-pat licensed teachers. |

when i was in thailand, after teaching private lessons i was earning between 60,000 and 70,000 per month. my average day would begin at 07:45 and finish at about 16:00. not a bad salary for thailand. i didn't get an apartment though, but as you know you can get a decent apartment for 10,000 baht per month easily.
i'm off to japan next week to teach with westgate for a few months, filling in the time before my pgce starts in sept next year (hopefully) so its non-comparable really.
the plan is to teach in england for a couple of years after getting qts and then head off around the international school ex-pat scene for a few years. its the way forward i reckon. |
