There are only two ways to rid hair in Japan: shaving or plucking. Bring your own waxing kit with you. I am also a waxer. I use the waxing strips on my legs and eyebrows. And Jim, I beg to differ. My husband is Japanese and maintains a trimmed front yard, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I've never seen any drugstores here selling shaving wax, good thing I brought some from home! I've seen a lot of those laser hair removal place ads too. Women here mostly shave their arms, underarm, & legs using an electric shaver, maybe it's cleaner & safer. However, not all women shaves their arms. One of the Japanese staff at my school doesn't shave her arms, and she got like really long & hairy arms...pretty scary! A lot of Jap women are hairy, that's why they must shave everything, also from peer pressure since junior or high school. And talk about no good antipersprint sticks!!! They recently all use sprays but doesn't really work, you'll still sweat & after a few hours, your armpits will smell again. I do suffer this from some of my students (female too!). My nose is like dead now cuz of bad B.O.

Eleckid- I see that you are relatively new to this forum, and I don't know you well enough to know your intentions, but you really mustn't use the term "Jap". A lot of people find it very offensive. If you must abbreviate the word "Japanese" please use the forum's standard abbreviation "J."

Because antiperspirant isn't widely available, I've experimented with different brands of deodarant, and I'm quite pleased with the results.

I like Ban products. They work well, though you've got to keep them handy in your purse or school bag for freshening up. It's a matter of lifestyle adjustment, shall we say.

Also, so many people reject Japanese hair care products so quicky. As an experiment over the summer, I started using domestic shampoo and was really pleased with the results. I also really like domestic body soaps of all kinds. My favorite is the seaweed stuff.

Note - I'm a caucasian-looking foreigner, with typical wavy hair.

Ooh, the latest product I've gotten into is nigari soy milk lotion apres shave. It's said that this stuff makes your hair softer and slower to grow. I'm really pleased with the results.

Anybody else using it?

I buy this stuff in Canada at Asian foodstores. I love the smell of it. Yummy apples!
