Hi everyone,
I'd just like to say that so far Turkey is a wonderful place, and I'm so glad I'm here. If, like me, you come from Oz or a similar culture you may hear people talking about danger and proximity to danger and this disaster and that problem and bla bla bla. I even posted enquiries about the general attitude toward Westerners and now feel like a dope because clearly there is no need to worry. The Turks are very friendly warm people. So far, Ive had a very easy time and people have been welcoming and generous. If you are already living here, I can see why, and if you are thinking of visiting then you should.
So there it is. Thats my 2 lira worth. Cheers! |

Yes - Turkey is a wonderful place to spend a vacation, with all the ``friendly`` people, but start living and working there, and one wishes you luck, because that might turn out to be a very different experience for you some months down the road.
Reality check needed... |

Welcome, Ash, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I am -- still -- ten months on.
And spread the word that the "reality" is -- this place can truly rock, if it's right for you. |

Ash - Welcome to Turkey. Don't let Ghost get you down. Each of us has our own experiences in Turkey, some good, some bad. As for me, I worked there for 4 years and loved it. I am returning in two weeks and I am counting the hours. |
