I havent seen anything about this guy on these forums and to be honest i dontknow THAT much about him, except that he is a foreigner and has wicked kick ass chinese! i didnt believe until i saw him on the telly - i think he has his own show! man, he was whacking out the chinese tongue twisters like anything!

what i wana know is have any of you actualyl MET him? and does he read this site? im guessing he used to be a teacher in china, so i guess he might still be in touch and giving advice to us small children.

Are you reading this big mountain?Smile what is his real name? - sorry, i meant to say - what is your real name? i know fame may have got to your head, but can u offer us some info on anything??Smile

Actually - can u sort me out with a job on ur show? maybe that would be a good feature on your show big mountain - bring on a foriegner who is currently teachin and living in china and u can fill some time and it will be entertaining for the crowd to see another foreigner - maybe try to teach him chinese or something. kind of have a "side-kick" apprentice to your show - you heard this idea HERE first. i want some kind of royalites man! Very Happy

Do I know the guy? No. But Hubei Canuk believes that he is in with the Commies. So I'd stay clear of him if I were you.

Apparently being from Canada I am SUPPOSED to know this guys life story. He is our answer to Yao Ming I guess. I try to tell my students that nobody in Canada except his mother know who in the hell he is. And NO I do not know him. Sort of like you are an American you must know my cousin Lee Yeng she lives in Charlotte I think...

Well at least you have CCTV9. They have another english program that was slightly better, that had college students learning english, and the sound quality wasn't as horrible as after school Chinese (Even when I knew what they were saying I couldn't understand it)
Four weeks, no CCTV9, no Center STage, but I guess at least I can watch the 8:00 exercise program on CCTV5 Wink

Da Shan: Rumours versus Truth
----------------------------------
:
He is Canadian ###... No! his father is American, only his mother is Canadian and they emmigrated from Canada. so he is American.
..
He speaks excellent Chinese###: No. His voice is dubbed. This is the land of commie trickery after all.
..
He is kindly and compassionate### Are you kidding? He is a comedian, they are all SOB's in private... look at Jackie Gleason.!
..
He is tall handsome### They don't show you the soap box he is standing on and the retouched photos.
..
He is happily married to a chinese### It's his third marriage. Lets hope this one works.
=========================================
I tell all this to every Chinese that starts praising DA Shan to me every time they find out I'm Canadian.
I'm sick of hearing about THE OTHER CANADIAN, The FAMOUS one, the HANDSOME one, the SMART one, the RICH one, ... get this monkey off my back!!!!!
HAhahahahhahahahahahah!!!!!!!!
aarrghhhh!
..
Norman Bethune, now, Him i thank. He 's what separates us from those UGLY Americans in the Chinese mindset.
Thank you Norman and thank you Mao for your famous eulogy which is taught to "Chu Eri" (junior -2) in every school in China:
"Every communist party member should study the thinking method and philosophy of Doctor Norman Bethune (the Canadian). !!"
Thanks Mao.. you took me a long way with that.

They were duly recorded at the Third Plenary meeting of the Central Commitee last year at the Great People's Hall in the Public People's Forum along with disclosures of the sale of silkworm missiles to Iraq.
..
That was the source data for the missile joke that Da Shan later used in his skit.
..
..
Why wouldn't they be true?

That's a common logical fallacy known as :
"Argumentum Ad Moderatum"
similar to "Argumentum Ad Populum"
...
Your conclusion (inane drivel) does not have any supporting arguments or statements.
Suggest either a return to the debating academy or the appliction of three ounces of Miijiu taken with a glass of coke.

Hubei_canuk: if you haven't seen it, try to track down the propaganda film from the 60s made by the Chinese gov't about Bethune...it is a classic!!! I saw it in Toronto some time ago so I don't know where you could find it, but make it a mission...

Thanks Ryan, i certainly will make it a mission. I certainly owe Bethune a debt for all the preferential treatment i get. Both him and Mao make a great team!!1
