In other words, can you make a living without working for academies? If there's any interest in this poll, I'll write my own opinions in a few days. Thanks!

Alot of private work is seasonal. For example, teaching kids over the summer.

I currently have 6 one to ones and I've mananged to hold on to them for 5 months so far.

I do part-time work with a school here, just 6 hours a week. I arranged that when I got here (off my own back - no connection to the school I work for), and it's still going strong. However, none of my private students are still around.... I keep getting new ones who hang around for a month or two of intensive study, and then go on to new stuff...

Most of my private students last for at least a year or longer.I have one group of students that I have been teaching for over 4 years.
However there are a few that only lasted for a few classes and dropped out.
More the exception than the rule though.
