Why don't we have it in Phuket? Or as you Brits like to call it "Fuuket".

Merlin, of course you can step in the same river twice. What if one was outside your house and you had to walk through it to get to the shops and then walk through it again when you were coming home?

That's like saying "you can never bite the same apple twice, just like you cant meet the same person twice."

and besides,
"im meeting my mates"
"Ohh you cant! Youve already met them - you know who they are!"
"But they'll be expecting me!"
"Tough"

it just dont make sense. just it make dont sense.

im sorry, i really am.

I suppose if the river were frozen you could walk on it or over it and it would basically remain in the same state when you return, but you couldn't walk through through it or step in it, so although I take your point in regards to winter and arctic regions, I'll quibble on a technicality- the preposition in verses on/over.

I guess some people are frozen, too, so when I return home after 10 years they are still watching the same TV programs and meeting the same friends, talking about the same things. But I wouldn't walk up to them and say "Hi, I'm Julio, glad to meet you." Especially since my name isn't Julio, but ******.

What was the subject of this thread again?

Why not have a conference online - then all interested parties could contribute?

Those with a camera link could watch the proceedings but the papers could be posted and people would be able to post questions etc.

That way, everyone who contributes to the forums could be involved.

Just a suggestion.

Last time I did that I got something like 2,000 messages in my inbox each day over the period of two weeks. Most of them "My name is George and I'm from Iowa and I like budweiser."

If it's unmoderated it would be like the tower of babel and if it were moderated we'd have to choose the moderators. Does everyone feel comfortable with the current moderators being the ones to choose who gets to speak when?

But Technically it's possible ...

I'd be happy with the present moderators - but they may not want to take up such a task. I wouldn't fancy the job - and I bet it was an experience you won't forget.

I think it's a good idea - in an effort to include as many people as possible.
