This is a long shot, but can anyone recommend a good obstetrician in Cairo?
Plus if there's anyone out there who's given birth in Egypt , I'd love to hear about your experiences - problems, unexpected hitches et cetera. |

I've heard that GENERALLY the medical department isn't all that brilliant and c-sections are VERY common. From ladies who have had their babies here I've heard that they have GENERALLY usually had bad experiences - not to scare you. There was one lady who had cotton put in her to stop excessive bleeding after the birth(???) and it was forgotten to be taken out. She became very ill and saw a specialist, who took it out along with alot of blood which had gone black inside her(!!!).
Perhaps if you find a very good (and expensive) American/British hospital somewhere you might find it a pleasant experience. There was actually one lady who I remember saying that having her baby in Egypt was one of the nicest things that happened to her here. So there is some positive light too. I guess it's just a matter of finding a good doctor/hospital, and one that you can trust and feel comfortable with.
All the best!! |
