Okay, I'm tossing up between Mexico and Peru. I'm pretty much interested in both equally and need some help from people who've lived in either. Where should I teach for a year? |

I've done both. Why do you want to teach in Latin American, specifically? PM me if you want details and my opinion. You will get a different experience from each place. Mexico has more opportunities but it is far more expensive to live there. Anyway, you can PM me. |

For employment opportunities, good food, and learning Spanish, Mexico.
For seeing some awesome countryside and trekking, Peru. |

Well, I'm interested in South America mainly due to the city ruins; Aztec, Mayan and Incan, etc but also the wildlife, trekking possibilities, the culture, history, food , music, art.... everything really! If I had the choice I'd do one year in Mexico, one in Peru, but I'm trying to stick to a plan. I'm kind of leaning towards Peru as I'm really craving for some nature after living in Tokyo, but Mexico simply looks and sounds so interesting.
I'm planning on learning Spanish this year and next, before I go.
It's so hard to decide!
Guy Courchesne, just checked your site! Looks great! I've bookmarked it and am reading it now! |

Tough choices...myself, I was on my way to Peru, but got rerouted to Mexico (long story made longer by having married a Mexican girl).
I still wish I could get down to Inca country. Have enjoyed learning about Aztecs, and in fact, pretty much living right in the history in Mexico City and areas around.
Glad you like our site.

Just curious, because this sounded strange to me when I read it. How much further south than Mexico and Central America did the ancient Aztecs and Mayans build their cities? |

So, do you consider "up near Mexico" to be part of South America? That still sounds strange to me. Just trying to get my sense of geography in order. |
