Looking for some info re: women's clothing shops or a good, relatively inexpensive seamstress in HCMC. Need to get some cotton trousers and shirts for work - this synthetic junk is killing me. Markets seem a bit dodgy and shopping centres a bit expensive - surely there are some decent women's shops that don't charge an arm and a leg????????

Try Phan Van Han street (first on the left after Cao Ti Nghe), I think it's at no. 120-ish on the right hand side. Very cheap dressmaker, I used to live next door. Unless your Vietnamese is good you'll need to take a Vietnamese speaker with you. Buy yourself some material at Ben Thanh & they'll make clothes up for you v cheaply.

It's possible, but not easy. I forget the name of the street with all the shoe shops, but I'd suggest bringing extras.

Also, you can have shoes made, but I've not done that yet.

Find a bi-lingual friend (or PM me) who can do your negotiations for you and you will find that you can get custom made cloths very reasonably.
