Hows things going guys -

I have a small question.

I am trying to plan my return Trip to Aus for graduation in May next year and i am wondering if anyone has tried to go via HKG ,

I am not worried about spending 22 hours on the train or flying there , either way is fine.

which would be better for tranist in Hong kong , Is getting from the Railway station that the Beijing train comes into easy enough to get to the airport.

I would like to keep costs for transport under 8000 RMB( Zhengzhou to Sydney and return ) if i can.

Any input would be great , Smile

Cheers guys - Keep smiling even if due to smog the person 2 feet ahead cant see it - thats China Laughing

There are direct flights from Shanghai to Sydney and it’s just an 1 hour or so from ZZ to SH by plane.
I am trying to recall the ticket price for SH-ZZ which I think was about RMB 400 but it will be more expensive (up to RMB700) depending on the time of day you fly.

I would be 100% certain that there are BeiJing- Sydney flights too.

Unless you have to go via HK, either of those 2 options would be cheaper.
BTW: The train to Hong Kong ends up in Hung Hom station from where there is a cheap airport bus. (HK$30 or so)

Happy travels.

Hello ahopfe,

The bus to Pudong airport leaves from just around the corner near the railway station (RMB19).
If you fly into SH, it's better if the local flight ends at Pudong (although there is PD- HongQiao bus)

I assume that you are buying a ticket from China-Oz-China.

Why not get a local friend to check a few travel agents?
OR C-trip which is a legit. concern in Shanghai:
http://english.ctrip.com/supermarket/flight/flight.asp
toll free number etc

or just send me all your ca$h Wink

BTW: I really admire your positive attitude towards living in ZZ – I thought it was an absolute dump. Sad sorry about that...

I have tried doing it over the net but bloody hell thats like talking to a brick fliipin wall , Thanks for the website i will give them a try ,

I am finding that most of the local travel agents are saying thats its too early to book , i am just wondering if thats true or if its that they dont want to deal with chinese that come with a foriegner .

yes, that's because the prices haven't been fixed for the tickets as yet { it's till 8 months to May)
But a strange way to do business, is it not Question

However you could buy tix now from Qantas in SH for example but you will pay full list price.

Give C-trip a bell and see what happens. They also have e-mail.
Another option is to book the ticket now then pay later when the price is fixed.

Take it easy

Just in case you actually do want to transit on the land route through HK and on by plane: Take a train to GUANGZHOU, then hop on a HK Airport bus at the GARDEN HOTEL, Huanshi DOnglu No. 368; this is some 300 meters west (back) from the HUAYUAN JIUDIAN bus stop, on the S side of the road; take bus No. 234 or 30 from the main station, for some 4 stops. By taxi it's around 15 kuai.
The bus departs from the bus terminal on the hotel's west side, opposite the STARBUCK'S cafe.
The bus fare is around HK$ 250.

As far as I know, there is no direct airport bus from HK's railway station, though there are numerous "A" buslines that take you to the airport; one is from SHATIN, halfway between the border and HONGKONG, and another one is from TSIMSHATSUI, right smack in downtown Kowloon (2 kms from the railway station). .

There is the direct A21 bus from Hung Hom KCR Station right to the Airport HK$33
http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/aguide/bus.html

The train to GZ is an interesting option { can't get lost with those details, Roger Smile } but I wonder how much you save over getting the train right into Hong Kong? I have never priced the difference but if you were carting a bit of luggage it seems like a real hassle - not to mention the main GZ railway station itself (east station seems fine though.)
Supposedly one of the most dangerous places in China but not sure how that is measured Question

Actually, having said all that it may be about the same price to get a discounted air-ticket compared to a soft sleeper from BJ or SH to HK.
Of course there is always the hard sleeper option which is OK on those routes.
