|
|
I heard that to live in an Aeon apartment, one must be single or married to another Aeon teacher. Surely there are teachers that have been there a while and got married. Are the landlords so strict? I figure it is case by case, just wondering if anyone knows any married teachers that only one spouse is an employee at Aeon. |

No, it is not 'case by case'; 'tis another of those 'written in stone' rules.
I have been married to my J wife for 4 years and when I interviewed I questioned whether we could live in the same apartment. The answer was a resounding 'no'. I commented out that I wouldn't want to work for such an inflexible employer.........so I can't tell you what it is like to work for AEON!! |

Ah, welcome to the land of paradox! Yes, "technically" there are certain rules, but the enforcement of them is often hit or miss. Gambling, hard-core pornography, illegal entry into Japan, overstaying visas, etc. are all illegal in Japan; and without exception all exist with the tacit approval of the police/government. Therefore, depending on your landlord (at your AEON-sponsored apt.) you may or may not have any problems with your partner living with you. Many apts. don't even have on-site management and run by rental agencies. |

Bart's dad; of course you can risk bending/breaking the rules. But AEON could then have you for breaching your contract; keep charging you the rent even if you move out; sack you etc. It is up to the OP if he wants to take that chance; personally I wouldn't want to work for someone with such stringent and (IMO) unreasonable rules...... |

I thought the risk was implied in my answer (just as doing any of the other things I mentioned). As for AEON, it is not their rule regarding apartments. The almost always rent single-occupant apartments; the single occupancy rule being set by the building's owner, property management company, etc. |
