According to the regulations - Yes.
According to whether an employer wants to hold out for a Bachelors Degree holder - maybe.
Why don't you make some applications to some schools and see how accepting they are of your qualifications? Let everyone know the names of any schools that say no or don't reply, and the names of schools that are interested. This could help answer this question for others in the future! |

Yes, you will be able to find work here. Getting an ARC may or may not prove difficult depending on any one of numerous variables. Don't concern yourself too much with the legalities of teaching English on Taiwan. No one here does so neither should you.
Many people including myself agree that working without an ARC may be preferable to attempting to go the legal route.
You need to be here to find a good job.Whether or not your ARC comes through is irrelevant. A little lying goes a long way just don't do it in writing and it is perfectly acceptable behavior on Taiwan. Tell your employer you have a four year degree and let them worry about the details. They probably won't have enough English skills to comprehend what it says anyway.

Good luck,

Hi, I was going to post a thread like this, but I guess there's no point, so I'll just add to this one!
I have a 2 year college diploma, and a TESOL certificate, plus years of voluntary teaching experience. Does this mean I could teach english in Taiwan?
Thanks!

Really? Who are they?
The fact is that almost all of the previous advantages of working here illegally have been lost with the continued improvements made by the government in regards to processing applications from qualified applicants.
Nowadays, the majority of foreign teachers working here illegally, do so by neccessity and not by choice. They are unable to meet the governments minimum criteria for one reason of another, and choose to stay and work anyway. Only an idiot would intentionally work here illegally, if they qualified for legal employment.
Aristotle - Maybe you would care to outline what these advantages to working illegally actually are!!

Oh what a wonderful idea! Just when you settle into the job your employer will finally come to their senses and realize that you don't have the promised degree, and then kick you out without the need for notice.
Good advice Aristotle. Let's just hope that nobody is stupid enough to actually follow it. |
