Recently, posters on this site have described the requirements for getting a Japanese Working Visa to teach in the eikaiwas as a 4 year degree (to work full time), and a 2 year degree (to work part time).

In Australia the majority of Bachelor's degrees are only 3 years in length, the only ones that are 4 or more are Law, Architecture and the ones to do with medecine. Also, one's university studies are stretched to about 4 years by completing what is known as a dual degree, made up of two thirds of two 3 year programs put together.

I don't know what sort of Bachelor programs they have in Japan or America, but maybe they're all at least 4 years long (?).

In a matter of weeks I will be awarded a 3 year Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. Do the Japanese immigration authorities allow 3 year BA degrees for full time teaching work if issued in Australia?

Wishful thinking I know...

I am from New Zealand and my BA is 3 years. that qualifies for a work visa. Undergraduate degrees in Japan are 4 years.

2 year junior college degrees and TAFE diplomas are ineligible for work visas here. It must be a 3 year Australian university degree and 4 year from other countries such as the US or Canada.

I did a 3 year bachelor of Fine Arts degree and got a working visa through Nova. As long as you have a degree it's fine. If you could get a 2 year one (as long as it's a complete course!) they'd accept that too.
