Dear VS
I hit the wrong botton, hope you don't get this message twice.
Yes, I am following the lead. Unfortunately, I cannot open SQU Website to check their Eng. Lang. Centre and get their email (Java script perhaps). But I found an old ad. from SQU (a year old) and I am going to use the email there to send them a letter.
Of course you can't answer my question. I said earlier that it was not a fair question to ask. I am also checking other ME sites, not only UAE, including non-English teaching possibility.
And do you think of teaching in Yemen?
You have been very helpful. Thanks.

Hi Lillian,
I have never been to Yemen, but there are some threads about it on the General Middle East board. As I recall, Princess of Quite a Lot taught there before she went to Oman. Hopefully she is reading and can give you some advice. If we don't hear from her here, you could try sending her a PM. The pay is low there, but so is the cost of living.
I have trouble getting into the SQU website too. I use a Mozilla browser and you need the flash program to even get in. I would have to open Internet Explorer to get in. As to sending them a letter, don't be surprised if they do not respond. These ME employers are very bad about responding to inquiries.
My advice would be to get that CELTA and then send off an application to a few of these places if you are looking at a position teaching English. One problem is that almost all university level hiring is done from April through the end of the summer for next September. Unless you see a specific advertisement related to your other degrees asking for immediate applications - then, of course, send one off.

Dear Lili,
If you're interested in Yemen, you should look at the threads in General ME. Although I left Yemen in June, I'm very willing to talk about it and encourage people to give it a try. As VS says, the pay is generally very low but so is the cost of living, and the experience is incredibly authentic.
PM me if you want more info.
