I don't know yet! They said something about Tai Po or Tin Shiu Wai, but I am having a problem with the visa at the moment 'cos I can't get a reference letter from my old schools in Korea.
I really want to get back to teaching, and they seem Ok so far, but they also seem to be the lowest paid one in the whole country! Are you there now?
(I'm also looking at Japan in case the visa doesnt come through) |

I worked in Tin Shui Wai. Am not there anymore mainly cos I hated living so far away from the centre of HK. It takes at least 45mins to get anywhere. The school is ok, you're pretty much left to do your own thing and don't get much hassle. It's probably not the best kindergarten to work for, but from what I've heard it's also far from the worst. The apartment you get is big and you can walk to work in less than 10 mins.
I also worked in Japan and loved it there. HK is much easier to live in though if you like your home comforts and speaking English! |

Hey
Thanks for the information - its much appreciated. I have to say, I'm not too enamoured about living way out of the centre. I lived the same distance away from downtown Seoul last time, and it did get a bit tedious having to travel every time I wanted to go there!
I'm also a bit wary of signing a 2 year contraact, although its a bit late 'cos I've already done it - was so happy to be going off to work again and not work in the silly part time job I'm doing at the moment! Still, I guess it's what you make of it all, isn't it? Did you find it easy to move schools?
Well, I hope you are enjoying Hk, I am still awaiting news on the visa problem. Any more views are more than welcome...
Thanks again

I signed a two year contract, but left after 1 year. I think a lot of people see this kindergarten as a good way to get into the country, especially as they provide an apartment. There's a lot of jobs available here. Please PM me if you want more info, as I'm still friends with some of the English teachers out there and could give you thei email addressses if you like.
Best of luck! |
