This has probably been posted about a billion times, but what is a good salary like in China? I am thinking in comparison to Japan, S.Korea, Taiwan, etc. |

Yes, it has been posted a million times. What's the salary like in China? It's usually a very large stack of red 100 RMB notes (largest denomination aval.). Compared to other countries, our salary features a portrait of Chairman Mao. Sometimes, one is surprised to have nice, fresh, crisp notes (great in a salad). Other times, you get old, withered bills that smell like Grandpa.
Hope this helps. |

Sinobear, I damn well resent that. I'm a Grandpa and I smell very nice, according to my grandson's girlfriend. Well ... ex-girlfriend now.

hey mehrlin26,
since the salary of all english teachers in china by far exceeds the average chinese income it would be hard to say what constitutes a 'bad' salary. i've heard about salaries going up to RMB10,000 but most people will make anything between RMB4,000 and RMB7,000 depending on the location (university vs. private school) and the amount of hours they work. just to put it in perspective-many chinese teachers make about RMB1,000/month.
hope that helps

I didn't think chinese teaching salary was that low, I thought it was around 2,000-3,500RMB a month.
I will put it in perspective, if you earn 8,000-10,000 a month, which is very likely you will be a middle to high manager wage in a chinese company in comparison. |

It depends on the city really. In GZ the Chinese teachers all get at least 5000 a month. Whereas in Wuhan they only get about 1500.
So a foreigner getting 5000 a month in GZ will be somewhat less well off than one getting that much in Wuhan. |
