Hello everyone Surprised

I have been going through the Polish want ads for ESL openings and almost all the schools put down "a competitve wage". What exactly does this mean? Competitive against a serf working at Tesco? Anyone have a rough base wage that Polish schools pay? What is a "good wage"? I know that wages won't be as competitive as Japan or UAE but there is nothing to go on from the webpages from these schools.

Thanks a lot.

It depends where you are. Here in Warsaw don't take anything less than 45PLN for 45 minutes before tax (16%).

You are correct in your assumption that you won't make anything near waht you would make in free Asia or the Gulf. But what you will make will be more than most of your Polish neighbors will be taking home. When I was teaching in south eastern Poland I was taking home about 4000 zlts per month ( this included privates). I lived like a god.

Well, I was working in Krakow and I earned 50 pln/hour before taxes and charged my privates the same. I lived VERY well, saved up some cash and travelled during the summer.

I recommend Poland to anyone. It's a great country. The Poles are friendly, the food is delicious and they pay well enough! Laughing
