What kind of TESOL course/instructors/trainers did you have that allowed you to finish with those kinds of unrealistic expectations? Just curious.
None, these are my own expectations. It's just that I viewed the certificate as a magic passport; I've got a piece of paper saying I can do this job so I should be able to do it. Now of course, I realise that my training has really only just begun, I should view this as training for which I am actually getting paid (Actually, not a bad way of viewing it, now I think about it). Also, being a qualified teacher (ha!) means I've been reluctant to ask for help, dammit I should be able to do this. Well, I know now that sort of hard slog that lies in the future, but I'm releived to know it's worth it. |

| A piece of paper means very little. It gets your foot in the door and helps you land a job (sometimes). Experience in the classroom is where you learn to teach. |

| I've found Polish people in London to be similarly dire - but have also heard from teachers in Poland that they're absolutely great. |

| I went out with a Polish girl for a couple of months about 2 years ago. She was pretty cool but she began to get a bit heavy a bit too soon so I had to end it. Hope this has been of some help. |

Thanks for your help, but I'm not on the market at the moment. But do appreciate comments about Polish women |

Yes, you're a professional and should consider yourself as such. THe attitutde at some of these schools is dumb. They only want to make money, not teachers, and the parents don't care.
THe parents have got the money so you'r at their expense. Meanwhile, look for another job and pack your bags. TEll them why, making iut stick to their sense of stupid pride.
I too, took TESOL. Spent over 6 years teaching, But they play politics here, and it's not worth it. YOu can't be under control or else they
re not in control of you and their money. Talk to WOmbat and CO. THey seem to know the motions here pretty well, motions which I think are a joke. |
