I am coming to Japan in the first few months of next year and am getting mighty sick of kicking my heels waiting for the call. I was wondering about how different life would be out there and what I would miss the most from here. Should I be gorging myself on Marmite and taking in as much football live and on TV as possible? Perhaps I should be sleeping with a lot of blonde girls? Maybe I could watch Eastenders on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as well as catching the omnibus and UK Gold showings.
I would like to know what (supposedly) tiny and insignificant things you miss about wherever it was you came from. |

Guess it depends where you live. If you're in a big city, you will have better access to some of life's Western conveniences.
I miss sports, but am getting used to it now, choice of Western restaurants. I usually eat Japanese at home and really enjoy it, but would like to have something else when going out.
English news would also be nice, the translated J news here is terrible, slightly better than nothing.
Honestly, there is not a lot I miss, mostly family and friends and sometimes I'm glad I'm far away too.
BTW, Sadken, who is on your avatar? |

Parks with grass you can sit on!!! Chairs in the street. If anyone can tell me where you're supposed to eat food in Japan, please tell me.
Coming from Sydney I just miss the animals and trees.
I also miss debating when going out. What I would give for an intelligent conversation without the other person agreeing with me or too shy to express their opinion. |

I agree -- you'd better gorge on the Marmite as the Japanese are actually civilized enough to have Vegemite available -- if you shop at the right stores. |

Oh, yeah! Is it just me, or does the meat here taste watered down? And the milk, no matter which brand I buy always tastes "tangy". |

I miss the lack of humidity...if it doesn't cool off soon I fear I will melt!
I miss having a car some days.
I miss having an oven too. But it's not like I can find anything to bake in my oven except meat, so....
There really aren't too many foods I miss because you can find pretty much anything over here, you just have to be willing pay for it. |

Those concern me.
I like big butts and I am not prepared to lie under oath.
Without sarcasm I am nothing.
I like a good sit.
Right - getting stoned is shit and I really hate the big counter culture bullshit surrounding it. It is fucking shite. It is ok for 12 year olds but, seriously, try brown, you'll never look back. Give it up and you are clear. I seriously hate weed now. After years of smoking fields of it I just can't stand to be around people smoking it now. They bore me so very, very much. |
