Nagoya airport is NOT connected by rail. However, the shuttle bus service is quite efficient, and costs less than 1000 one way.
Accomodation-wise, teh airport info counter can point you in some good directions. Expect 6-8 thousand yen a night for a cheap place.
McDonalds is everywhwere near Nagoya station. More sensible meals cost around 1000 yen in the station area. Be careful - most restaurants are underground near the station area. |

again, for the bus service ask at the counter, they will point you in the right direction...
as far as cheap food... well if you are coming to Japan, I would suggest anything other than mcdonalds. Just keep your eyes open, there is plenty of cheap sushi and you can't go wrong with Ramen, cheap as dirt and portions bigger than Ben Hur... You can find Ramen (noodle shops) anywhere. Since the weather is getting cooler you can get oden (cooked everything in broth) and bean, pork, chicken etc chinese style buns at convenience stores. |

The shuttle bus is easily identifiable by teh fact that it is the only bus that goes there. More seriously, Nagoya airport is quite small, and there is little chance of getting lost unless you really try.
iirc, you have to buy the tickets from an information booth anyway, so they can point you in the right direction. Last time I was there, the information staff spoke passable English. |
