As the buses are still running, I had to come into my office today. There are no students, but I have a bit of lesson planning to catch up on. I couldn't believe that I was the only person sporting a plastic raincoat on my way to the subway this morning. It caused quite a bit of laughter when I got in at the office. Apprently, people in Fukuoka don't dress appropriately for the weather unless they are working at a constuction site. |

You sleep with a toque (woollen hat) and scarf
You have to scrape the frost off the insides of your windows at home
Forget you're wearing wool gloves and start doing the dishes (happened to a friend) |

...you wake up and your wife is cuddling you.......you start using the heated bathroom mirror again (what a great gadget that is!)......the heated toilet seat is switched on again.....you start looking - quite frantically - for all those jackets, coats etc that you know you stored away in some safe, yet now unknown, place............you enconter the 'sneeze symphony' and 'cough concerto' everyday on the train (why DON'T people cover their facial orifices when contributing to this aural delight....? ) |
