I've been floating around contemplating my stay here and how much it means not working. I honestly say hello to people here and there, talk to more. Can't speak Chinese but they know a little English. Wonde if any of you have felt in such a bind.

My eye is sill swollen-don't know how it happened-slleep a lot and just walk around town. Feel down and thinking about just hunting down any old job-except for my eye. Makes me look bad and all, and not having a tale to tell to match.

Really freaks me out. WOke up and had this swelling, doctor saying it was a blood clots. Spit out blood too, that's for sure, rasberry red, juicy. Makes me sick.

But being part of the slower aspects of life makes me feel at peace. THe stress and nitpicking by teachers and supervisors was just a laugh. I enjoy watching these shrine owners huddled at their tables and stoves, doing nothing. THe screaming of kids is far away, like I don't care. I've been at this job 6 years now, and got quite fed up with my experiences in Asia. It sounded before like I was negative and had a bad attitude, but it's just the fight in me wanting to settle some old scores.

THis is the score that you're here just to make money, nothing else. MOst Chinese see through this rather keenly. THe fact I'm an object of their wrath really pricks my pride. Let's just make it more commercialized and forget all the students who want to learn, and must learn, at our behest.
It makes me mad little things mean so much to them, but not the big things, like How are the students learning?!! How are you teaching in class!? ALL the little stuff, like sighning out a copy card to make 10 copies and then writing in how much is left on the copy card, is just a fluke. Yeah, this bisiness ethic is or importance, if you want to save money, which is all these schools really seem they want to make here, like the school charching me NT10.00 for being a minute late. THEIR CLOCK WAS FAST TOO!!

Let me get this right. You don't have a job, but you are still here in Taiwan. What exactly is your visa status? Are you now here illegally?

So you are an illegal immigrant in a country that you haven't a nice word for, and you continue to call the locals dishonest!? Back home illegal immigrants are not looked on too kindly. Surely if you want the Taiwanese to respect you and treat you under the law, then you should start acting within the law yourself.

I assume that this means that you are in fact illegal - but you have an excuse for being an illegal immigrant.

Guess what! The authorities don't care about hearing excuses. The simple fact of the matter is that if you are here without a visa then you are here illegally. When you finally do decide to leave you will need to pay a fine, it is highly likely that you will prohibited from re-entry for a period of time, you will be required to write a letter of explanation for your overstay as way of an apology, and you may need to pay a fine equal to three times any unpaid taxes (according to the Taiwan Tax regulations, which by the way are available in English). In the absence of any documentation on the matter, they decide upon a reasonable income to sustain a living and tax you upon this amount, whether you have earned it or not.

And there lieth your biggest problem. Taiwan is not Kansas, Dorothy. If you want live by the American way then go and live in America. Taiwan is Taiwan, and for all it's good and bad things, it has its own rules.

Anyway, no one wants to listen to an illegal immigrant complain about the lack of rights available to him/her. Show contempt for the law, and the law will show contempt for you.

I for one would love this to end.
AKATDN.. your spelling is getting worse and worse... I'm surprised you can call yourself an English teacher.

Please for the love of God, stop writing self indulgent bile on these pages, either get a job or go back to Korea... Believe me in my experience Korea is not always the Shangri La you paint it to be.. I can't be ar$ed to back up why I say this because all I will get is pages and pages of bizarre ranting from you that is either not well thought out or very ill judged. Save your energy for something much more useful.

TS/Wombat I salute you.. you never lose your decorum.

My spelling is getting worse becuase I can only see out of one eye. My self-indulgence is founded upon a feeling of remorse that some think their wording is so sacred to our eyes.

I quit work for now. No more buxibans or lying. BUt Korea. It makes me think how life might've been.

On other threads here you have complained that you were fired unfairly. There are some inconsistencies here.

Assuming that you did indeed quit your job voluntarily is even worse in my eyes. This means that you voluntarily became an illegal immigrant, bum, without a job. What are you thinking??!!!

After reading his rants and diatribes you have to come to the realization that AKATDN is more than a disgruntled whiner. He needs to go home and get some serious medical help before he hurts himself or worse, someone else. Each posting he makes has less coherence than the previous one.
