Has anyone here taken thier english speaking children overseas with them when they go teach in these exotic locals? 7 years ago I was bar hoping my way around the world when I some how got to Turkey, got married (to a turk) and now am a (sort of) normal looking young mother of 2. We are back in turkey, and I am back to teaching english, which is all fine and good and much more....coherent these days. Smile And I am so happy we came back to turkey. many things are happy and good here,

*but* travelling with kids is really hard, and really differnt from doing it by yourself (Duh!) and all those little itty bitty cultural expectations that go into raising your kids all come screaming to the suface when you are new (or, newly returned) to the country.... Also, it seems that a lot of ex-pats spend thier free time together getting drunk, which is all fine and good, but that's not really where we're at, so it's kind of a "meeting people" stumbling block....so, if anyone has taken thier kids off to exotic locals with them, I would love some advice. Also, we are running into the fun "free english lesson fandangle" dance in the park or whereever other kids might be. My kids love to talk, and they talk to me in english, (we are trying to get our turkish up to speed as quick as we can) so there are a lot of overzealous mothers out there who want to be our friend in the hopes of english so how rubbing off on thier kids... this is kind of wierd to me,.... any advice would be apprciated. ta.
