I'm sorry, I'm at a bit of a loose end and suffering with writer's and reader's block.

Anyway, I was wondering what you good, good people would rate as being your top 3 comic creations of all time. Much as the title of the thread suggests, in fact.

Mine are:

1. Catch 22 -I'm sorry, I intended characters but it is so hard to choose between them in this, the funniest book I have ever read and the only one to make me laugh out loud

2. Homer Simpson - So many memories. So many good times. We have seen the evolution of Homer over the past however many years and he is now firmly established (to my mind) as the greatest character ever created. Some of his quotes are just incredibly funny and he is a multi layered character. God bless Homer Simpson.

3. This one is near enough impossible to choose and so i have decided to go for.......Alan Partridge. I will probably repent at leisure because I have been wracking my mind and I am sure there is a film from the 60's/70's that I was thinking the other day contained one of the all time greats. Anyway, Alan is someone else we have seen evolve as a character from the radio shows and the Day Today to KMKYWAP and his bounce back that wasn't. A true great and he reminds me of my Dad so much that some days I literally want to die.

Honourable mentions for George Costanza, Billy Brown (Buffalo 66), David Brent, Patrick Bateman (in his own little way), R2D2, Arthur Dent

Right, actually, as we speak I wish to change my number 3 and make it, instead, this lad:

Marvin the Paranoid Android - If there is anyone who hasn't read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at this stage in mankind's evolution then, firstly, I spit on your grave and, secondly, I implore you to read it all immediately. Marvin is an android with a brain the size of a planet who is forced to carry out menial work and offer himself as a sacrifice. He was given a personality by his creator and is not best pleased about it. Seriously, I cannot stress how fantastically funny his complaining can be. Buy it. Buy it all, now.

1. Captain Caaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee man.

He could fight the war on terror single handed and still be home at dinner time to enjoy the adulation of those 3 girls(what were they called).

2.Penelope Pitstop....phwoar..gorgeous!!

A bit clueless at times but demure, sensual and the ultimate cartoon damsel in distress that i personally would bust a gut to save(along with the Anthill mob).

3.Rhubarb.

A right nutter with as far as i can remember a totally bizarre and anarchic lifestyle. Go on my son!

Tristram Shandy, by Lawrence Sterne, if you have the patience. The online stuff that I've found is a little frustrating, but the book is hilarious, if you like surreal, 18th century humour. Let's face it; who doesn't Cool

What defines a "comic creation"?
Do you mean a funny character or a animation or both? Do characters from Graphic Novels count? If so,

Art Speiglemen's Maus tops my list.
Followed by "Hollywood" of Homies fame.
The third one is hard ... could be Homer Simpson, but there would be no Homer if it were not for Fred Flintstone ... sure, Flintstone is more drab and less entertaining ... but he has historical stature. Neither Homer or Fred hold a candle to Charlie Brown in terms of entertainment, and ability to make universal statements about humanity and culture. Homer comes close but I think that he's to tied to a specific time in American culture. Charlie Brown isn't so restricted.

I dunno, I found the laughs a little hard to come by in those comics. They were still excellent but I did actually mean funny.
