|
|
I just got this today, from an official at Democrats Abroad. This whole voting thing has been frigging confusing -- I sent in an official federal write-in ballot, but that form was suddenly replaced by a NEW official federal write-in ballot. The upshot: I had to send a new ballot. Pain in the a$$! But anyway, some of you who thought you didn't register in time really do, apparently have a chance to vote:
Quote: |
A surprise last minute change in federal law now gives a last minute chance to
vote using the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB).
*****************************************************************
Voters in CT , IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, M t , NH, NC, and ND can still register to
vote.
IT IS NOT TOO LATE!
Late registration by fax is available in all of the above states except NH
You can download registration forms and find fax numbers at
www.OverseasVote2004.com
******************************************************************
For registered voters in all other states and the District of Columbia who
registered after October 4, 2004, the use of the FWAB has now been extended.
OLD RULE: Only voters who filed a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) by
October 4, 2004 at the latest could use a FWAB
NEW RULE: Voters who have filed a FPCA in accordance with state deadlines
can use a FWAB.
Ballot return times vary from state to state, but in many cases a ballot must be
postmarked no later than November 2. Some states also accept ballots by fax.
Detailed information and deadlines for faxing or mailing your ballot can be
found at www.democratsabroad.org . |

I was able to vote via fax (Kansas) - - how surprised was I? I had almost given up hope. I have never been this tense or excited about a presidential election. I'm hoping for Kerry to win, but dreading if Bush pulls it out of his a$$ again. It's funny, you watch FOX "news" and everything: every interview, every newsstory, every talking point is always in favor of Bush. Rarely is there a harsh word against the incumbent. Meanwhile, they love to roast Kerry any chance they get.
You watch BBC, NBC, CNN, etc. and almost everyone there talks about how tight the race is and how Kerry OR Bush could win. It is such a toss-up.
You know, "fair and balanced" journalism! |

Has the voting process EVER been this confusing or disorganized in the US before? I don't remember it being that way, although maybe that's just because I wasn't following it as closely then.
The thing that I just can't believe is all these last-minute changes in rules and forms. Your deadline is this, no, wait, it's THIS. Use this form. No wait, use THIS form. You already used the other form? Tough crap. Send in a new form. And of course, my REAL absentee ballot still isn't here. It's just abysmal. It's unbelievable. [/i] |

I gave up. Did the on-line reg. and got zip.
People get what they deserve anyway. Bush or Kerry?
It is hard to hear Kerry on about the average Joe when the guys got 140 mil. in the bank and his Missus is an heiress.
Like they say, love it or leave it. |
