Hi,
I've never had any relation with Yakup. However, there have been several jobs through Yakup that have seemed appealing. The sole reason I chose not to go through them is that almost every ad on every website starts off "With a proven record of placing over 2,700 teachers in China..." (or similar). I don't want to be part of an organisation that seems to take pride only in shoving huge numbers of foreigners into jobs.
Recently, there was a thread regarding Yakup on one well-known website; no more ads we taken from Yakup, due to an overwhelming number of complaints against it.
I think that if you have stumbled this far, you can stumble a bit further and do a bit better.
Someone with direct experience with Yakup might reply; in the meantime, take the liberty of using the "search" function at the top of the screen. I'm sure heaps of Yakup stuff will magically materialise in front of you.
Good luck, |

yakup is one of the most popular recruiters around. If you just do a search for YAKUP, you'd find enough posts to keep you busy 'till next week. |

I initially planned to come to China with Yakup. They got so much bad press that I changed my plans after I had bought my plane ticket. It cost a lot extra to go to a different city, but it was worth it. I corresponded with a few Yakup recruits who came over when I did. Things did not go as promised for them. |

No personal experience with Yakup though I have been given the low down by a number of their recruits. To me it would seem this outfit is not totally kosher.
Think why they have a name like that - are they Turks?
Then, I know for sure they do this recruiting only as a sideline to their mainstream business line, which is import and export.
My contacts unisono told me they had to sign a first contract with Yakup who offered them some job or other; then, upon arriving in China, they were made to sign a second time, this time with their actual employer.
Not one of my correspondents ended up working for the school they had been negotiating for...
In some cases, they got hooked up to a school offering better conditions, but in the majority of all cases their employer would pay less, and be less generous in other ways as well.
It does amaze me that so many newbies are so eager to be placed in China that they resort to allowing an agent to make a quick buck at their expense.
If you want to get a reliable go-between, the only one I do endorse is Buckland in Yangshuo -n bad press notwithstanding! |

I did come to China (nearly 15 months ago) with Yakup International.
I personally think that all Recruiters are tarred with the same brush. They are all only interested in getting their commission and they could not care less about what you want.
So, if you use them (with your eyes wide open) just as they use you - there is really no problem
As long as you know beforehand WHERE you wish to teach and WHAT AGE you would prefer and WHAT SALARY you expect, plus the other perks you want, I think they can actually be useful.
I just got lucky with this School, I could just have easily been sent to a horrible School and City - but Ijust landed on my feet. It was no thanks to Yakup though, I am aware of that - just good fortune.
Because I was green, I had no idea where I wanted to be in China and actually no bl**dy ideas about anything. They did promise me 4,000 rmb per month (which did not materialise) and also that I would have some training and resources - which also did not materialise. However having said that - I could not be happier.
Good luck |
