I'm very proud to be an American, despite having such a putz for a President, and I would never claim any other citizenship abroad. I am not embarassed by my citizenship and I like to think that the people I interact with in other countries, regardless of their citizenship, will judge me based on who I am, not who issued my passport. If they judge me because of my citizenship, I think that says a lot about them. |

Absolutely. I get that all the time with some people with me being Canadian. Unfortunately, it's usually Americans, prolly just cuz of our proximity. But you have to admit, there aren't many people that would pose to be from another country, and it does say quite a bit about America and it's relationship with the world. |

I agree too. I am American and very happy to be so. I think a lot of Europeans and maybe other cultures think Americans are uncultured idiots. My own roommate her in Japan said she "never wants to go to America because it is very uncultured"on the first day of me meeting her. And she is British. So go figure. But I just see people like that as close-minded...
And Kerry would have won by most Japanese. But by businessmen prolly Bush, since he keeps making the yen go up and American dollar down...which is good for them. |

As a very proud American, I am truly ashamed of my leaders, and the decisions that they have made. I am also disappointed in the turn out of the election. But let's face it, neither of them represents America. They are both part of the top 3% of America as far as wealth is concerned, and that is not America to me. Not when more then 60-70% of a nation struggles to make ends meet. Not when almost everyone in the nation is covered in debt. But I suppose it can be said that Americans have it better than many other nations, which is very true to a point. But that's an entirely different topic.
My wife is canadian, but I would never tell anyone that I am a Canadian, for I am not. When Americans travel abroad, we are supposed to represent America more so then our leaders, we are supposed to show that the stereo-types are not the entire truth.
Japans vote, or the worlds vote, doesn't matter either way. Because the same decisions would be made by both of them, no matter what their campaign said. Because they are both about the same thing....$$$$$$$ |
