That's going to depend on where you choose to live and the number of foreigners living in that area. I'd be willing to bet that you'll find some foreigners in Taipei practicing wicca. Don't expect Chinese to be interested, though. |

I have actually wondered the same thing myself. At Page One, in Taipei 101, they have an enormous section on Paganism, New Age ideas and the paranormal. This is striking to me because their section on Mandarin language study is about 3 shelves long, and that includes the dictionaries.
This makes me believe there must be a fairly substantial market for such literature. It would then follow that there are some people who practice Wicca and other pagan faiths.
I was waiting in a coffee shop for a woman I tutor to show up one day. While I was waiting, I pulled out my tarot cards and started looking through them. This drew a lot of attention from the coffee house staff, and even more attention from my tutee when she arrived. It was all positive attention. It didn't freak anyone out. Of course, devination is pretty common here.
Perhaps there are not a lot of Taiwanese Wiccans, but I think Wicca would be more accepted here than it is in the West. |

From what I've seen, there is still a strong sense of the supernatural in Taiwan. I've been surprised at the number of my students who believe in ghosts, and who are astonished that I don't. |

Dear Readers,
According to The American Heritage Dictionary (2nd college ed.), wicca is "the cult of witchcraft." end of definition
Is that all there is to it????
Thanks.

Patchwork.....I have found a few pagans living in Taipei. I'm going to contact them in the near future to see what they say are good places to go and if there are any meetings. I'll be heading to Taiwan in 20 days....yeah!!!....so I'll let you know what I find there.
Taylor.....American dictionaries give a very vague and 'not quite correct' explaination of anything wiccan or pagan based, since they are generally written with the Christianized definition of things. If you want to know more about what is is, do a web search for "wicca/pagans". They will be able to help you with a correct definition of the terms. Or you can email me if you wish. I've been wiccan all my life, so i can help, if you want. |

20 days?
strange, i'll be there almost the exact same time.
where are you flying from? did you get a good deal? i hear Taiwan's Eva Air is very good, they fly from Vancouver. Vancouver is easy to get to with WestJet or JetsGo or even Air Canada if you get a seat sale ticket |

I was going to go with Eva air, but decided on Malaysian (gotta help cut down costs). I'm flying out of Edmonton-Vancouver-LA-Taipei. I dont think it was much of a deal, but i did look around and I like my travel agent. I found most the flights here were about the same price, all within $100 or less, depending on airline. I leave here on the 28, arrive in Taiwan on the 30th. |
