I'll second that. The year I spent in Poland was one of the best in my life. If only the money was better, I would have stayed. Other than that, it was tops!

I third that notion!!!

Poland is great!. Peaple are intelligent and have great sense of humors, not to mention the girls here are 1000 times prettier and ummm less promiscuous than American girls.

I don't care about money, I'm staying here the rest of my life if i find a nice girl!

I will fourth the motion. However, I will add there is money to be made if you stay away from tne bigger cities. This year I have been lucky enough to land a job at one private school doing in company for 4 hours a week, a private college doing 12 hours a week, and another private school doing approx. 15 hours a week. So, all in all I am making about 4000PLN a month and that is serious coin in Radom. I also have to agree about the women. Excellent.

I'll fifth that notion!

Well, at least the one that Poland is one of the greatest countries in the world! But I have no need for the women, thank you very much. I am one!

It always amazed me how a country with some of the ugliest men could produce some of the most beautiful women! Oh, I could also say something "interesting" about many of the native speaker guys there, but I won't. Twisted Evil

All of that doesn't matter for me though.. I've got me one hell of a sexy Swiss man now.. Very Happy

BTW, I lived in Sosnowiec for 6 1/2 years, in case y'all didn't know...

4000 zlts is a good amount of coin in Radom, ect. I was raking in that much in Stalowa Wola and livin' high on the hog. However, $1000 US a month does allow much true "western style" savings. Had it been four time that, as I am making now, I would have stuck around. I do miss the food, beer, ladies, Krakow, Zakopane and the wild growing fungus of south eastern Poland. Enjoy it whilst you are there!

another good thing is the strength of the Zloty. Today it was 3.3 to the US dollar.

Ok, I'm in Lublin and only make like 1200 zl per MONTH. I did kind of get screwed over by this one school who promised me 30 hours per week and 40 zl per hour and it ended up the director is/was just a "dishonest salesman". But all is well. Money does not buy happiness everyone!

I'm happier than a pig in shit teaching English to my fellow Polaks (I'm 100% Polish but have an American passport, I hate America with a passion though). I also don't work too many hours so I have time to relax and go out with friends. A true "European" lifestyle, as far away from America and it's so called 'culture' as can be.

I do get excited when I hear I can make 4000 zl per month some time in the future, if that's the case I'll renouce my US citizenship! But remember everyone, money doesn't buy happiness; just look at how happy Polish people are and they making on average 5 times less than Americans. It's all about how well you adapt to the money you do have. It's all psychological.

^ You can make twice as much as 4000PLN a month.

It's easy to say that money doesn't buy you happiness but it's a safe bet that in Poland somebody is making plenty of money from your teaching if you aren't. Why let somebody else take the profits from your work?

So, Alex, how do you do that?

^ Get private contracts (but remember to declare and pay tax on the income)
Work for schools which pay well.
Avoid the ones which rip you off (eg the one owned by Kymro)

vuloshin, I think you could do better yet. Go make some coin in America and then put it in a mutual fund and you could live off the money the mutal fund makes!!!

Or go to Japan same up $100,000 and then you will earn about 2400 zl a month without working!!!

So Vuloshin why don't you cut up your American passport? Haven't got the guts? I know an American guy here in Poznan just like you; he bashes America every chance he gets. That is until baseball and apple pie are involved. See he only takes the good stuff and can't deal with the dirty laundry that comes with it so he just dumps all over it. Sorry man, you can't wear blue jeans and bash the U.S. at the same time. Believe me man I'm no flag-waving patriot, but I can't stand people who trash the States and at the same time drink Coca Cola, wear blue jeans or listen to music that originated in America. Don't tell me that you don't do one of those things.

As far as Poles being happy being poor I'd like to contest that statement. Show me a Pole who wouldn't like to earn more money. Show me a Pole who doesn't worry about losing his job only to find himself among the unemployed (20% unemployment in Poland). Let me give you an example of how easy Polish workers have it. A girl who works in your local cafe probably earns 3-5 zlotys an hour and a cup of coffee in that same cafe probably costs around 3-5 zlotys as well. That means that she has to work an hour for a stinking cup of coffee! An hour!! Don't give me this that Poles are content and satisfied with their lot in life when it comes to money.

I hope I haven't come accross as being too hostile, but this topic really gets me. It would be good to have a couple of Zywiec and discuss in some dank basement pub, but I don't think that we'll have the chance.
