No, I'm not familiar yet their story is, sadly, so commonplace in Topeka.

And an aside to Merlin:

President Bush is in the news pretty much every day, both print and television. We couldn't ignore him if we tried. His quotes, his "moral values", his "conflict" in Iraq, it consumes us.

Phelps is in the LOCAL news of Topeka: both print and television. He is also on the major street corners on a daily basis. So many have tried to break his spirit and challenge him in the court of law but, although he walks the fine line, he's not breaking any laws. Ignore him? If only I could. He and is ilk are everywhere, every day. Just driving down the road on a typical sunny day is not safe as you are bound to be accosted by his HUGE, GARISH, TRASHY signs - - I mean HUGE!

Unless you experience this guy and his garbage face-to-face, you'll never know. I can't describe it enough here to make you understand, you'll just have to believe me. This is enough to make you sick to your stomach while, at the same time, the stories and webpages keep you glued to them. It's incredible how one person can do so much psychological damage. In my opinion, Bush is of the same page - - but he just goes about it in a different way, naturally.

that guy really does sound bad. maybe you could hire some mercenaries, or better yet the fbi or cia, to go in and wipe them out. they do it in the movies all the time. sounds like they deserve it.

usually with extremists like this, you can be guaranteed that they are being watched very closely. someone is watching him and waiting for him to f*** up.

I read some of the stuff on the links you posted, and that guy really is insane. That's the kind of stuff we'll be watching movies about in years to come, and the grandkids (or kids) won't believe it really happened!

The world, and Topeka, needs more people like him!

So if you choose to allow this guy to have an effect on your psyche you have two choices from there as I see it:

1)Be a victim, do nothing and just cry about how bad and cruel that man is, giving him more power with every word that comes from you outh.

2)Take action that will really cut his balls off. Do the bait and switch on him. He obviously has some pent-up homosexual (or at least homosensual) tendencies that he's trying to suppress. Accusing him of looking at your crotch (I assume "kev" is male) or your boyfriends' tight buns might just put him over the edge to do or say something rash. Have a videocamera ready.

Here's how I imagine it. Try to visualize it in your mind as well:
You walk up to him with some of your friends and start arguing with him. Sometime after things start to heat up you say: "You're such a hypocrite. If you hate gays so much why do you keep looking at my C***K?"
Now, a little psychology here:
The more you try to keep something off your mind the more it sticks. It's impossible to constantly think "I'm not going to look at this mans crotch" and not look at it. His unconcious mind will just drop the "not" part and look. The more he tries to not look, the bigger the temptation will be to look. The more you ridicule his ashamed glances the redder he'll get.

Have all of your male friends practice a high-pitched, hysterical laugh. Five of you laughing in such a way when he gets red might be enough to push him over the edge right there. Have a video camera running. "We've got it on tape! We can PROOVE you looked down at his c**k. You can't dispute hard evidence."
"Did the devil make you do it?"
Someone gets in his face and flickers their "devil's tounge". I'm sure a creative group of young men could come up with other ways to ridicule a Reverend who looks at male crotches.

Make sure your home security system is up and running before you do this. Just to be safe.

If you don't think you can do it pass the idea on to someone who you think can.

Juvenile? Perhaps. I don't see anything wrong with juvenile behavior in response to such people as Mr. Reverend.

Of course remember that the best course is to just ignore him if you can, of course.

In the first season of "The Awful Truth" Michael Moore confronted Fred Phelps and his band of idiots. I highly recommend it as Moore had a Winabego and painted it pink and had a huge sign on the side reading "Sodomobile" with a bunch of guys in tight outfits acting "gay" inside. It drove Phelps totally insane when they were in a parade. Give it a watch if you get a chance.
