I'm taking my girlfriend to Phi Phi for one day and Krabi for one day. Are there decent beaches on Phi Phi? Or do we have to go to one of the nearby beaches by boat (Maya Bay, etc.) to find them?

Also, in your opinion, what is the best place to stay in Krabi for the most beautiful beaches? Thanks.

Excellent advice from Paddy Daddy, not Confused

In answer to your questions:

Yes

and IMHO Aunang would be as good a place as any to start at or Koh Lanta depending on time of year.

Not a day trip mind you but get down to Pak Bara in Satun and get on a boat out to Koh Lipe, Koh Adang, or Koh Bulon Lae. Beautiful beaches and the Chao Lay people have a fascinating culture.

I've spent the last week travelling around PhiPhi, Koh Lanta and now in Krabi.

Phiphi is expensive and caters particuarly for tourist with a diving interest. You can basically only swim on one side of the island, and do your lying in the sun on the other.

Koh Lanta is really special, with lovely beaches with a relaxed atmosphere... and cheap resorts.

Spent the last two days in Krabi, haven't really had a chance to check out the beaches here yet... it has been raining non stop.

Good luck. Smile Smile

If you want to get away from the tourist scene definitely head down to Ko Lanta. Its is a beutiful island. Many say that it is what Phi Phi was 15 years ago. When I was there after about a week I had to force my self out of a spell in order to leave. So chill. So relaxing.
