|
|
Hi there I just found this info on the TECO of Canada website :
At present, the overseas R.O.C. missions usually grant visitor visas with the duration of stay for 14 days, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days counting from the next day of arrival.
http://www.boca.gov.tw/%7Eboca2000/en/qa2e.htm#select1
Just wondering if anyone was ever granted a 90 day vistor's visa? |

I got my visa through TECO (vancouver), for 60 days....and I can renew if need be, but I never heard of 90days. I just got my Visa last week, so its pretty recent. I also didn't have the option of choosing which one I got, they just filled it in for 60 days. Phone the office nearest you and they'll help, the Vancouver office was really helpful and friendly. |

This is a very good question. I noticed the same thing on a couple sites such as the Canadian TECO site, and even sites such as BOCA. In the case of BOCA though it wasnt contained within the legislation itself, it was contained within an information sheet presumably compiled by them. My best guess and yes it is only a guess is that the information is somewhat antiquated. I noticed that one of those sites was last updated back in 2000. A lot has happened since then, and it would seem that their lack of updates does not accurately reflect these changes.
I think that it best to assume that your possibilities are limited to a landing visa or 30 day and 60 day Visitors Visas, and just ignore the possibility of a 90 day visa. If anyone has actually been given a 90 day visa then please let us all know. |

You can extend the 60 day visitors visa for 30 days thus giving you 90 days. It is also possible to further extend that visa but you will be responsible for paying taxes on any income you get while in the ROC.
All you need to do to get an extension is to show the FAP a departing plane ticket showing that you are leaving before the 90 day period and a housing registration certificate from the local FAP. Same process just go and ask for it.
30 day landing visas are very difficult to extend or convert into and ARC. Best to get a 60 day multiple entry visa for business purposes through your travel agent. |

just wanted to say that i just recieved my visa the other day and surprisingly it was stamped with a 90 vistor's visa. I didn't even have to ask!..I went in assuming the maxium i could get would be a 60 day visa. Maybe it was because I went in on a day when it was really dead in there but the guy helping me was really nice and patient. I went in there assuming the worse like the rude people I hear working at the China consulate in Vancouver. |

Just a question of clarification.
Is the visa actually a 90 day visa, allowing you remain within the country for 90 days without leaving, or is it a shorter term (30 or 60 day visa) with a validity of 90 days. On occasion people confuse the validity date of their visa with the duration of stay of their visa. What I mean by this is that a 30 day visa may have a validity from the date that you get it till three months in the future. This is the period of time during which you may use your 30 day visa, but does not indicate that you are allowed to arrive now and leave at the end of the validity period in three months time.
I apologize if my question is offensive as it is not meant to be, I just haven't heard of a 90 day visa before and would like to clarify. Thanks for following up. |

Good question...as stamped in the visa of my passsport it jsut says "enter before: march 10, 2005, duration of stay: 90 days".. that being said, I assume my vistor's visa allows me to stay in taiwan for 90 days rather than having to extend my visa after the 60th day right?...correct me if I am wrong...just kind of paranoid now...seeing that so far it seems like no one has obtained a 90 day visa before... |

You are correct. Either this is a new policy or you are reading the visa wrong.
If you are really unsure I would be more than willing to assist you in ascertaining the validity and length of duration of your visa. If you have a scanner please scan the visa, you can black out the name and number as it is not important and email the jpeg to:
[email protected]
Good luck.
