Did your degree cover TEFL or was it more of the teaching English lit. type degree? If you don't know how to teach EFL then you'd probably be best off doing a CELTA here in Warsaw (as you want to teach in Warsaw, you can also do the CELTA in Krakow, Wroclaw and Poznan). If you do it here you have much more contact with the schools and so will find a job easily. As a Polish citizen you'll be able to free-lance for different schools and so make more money. If you were here now and had a CELTA in your hands I could point you in the direction of four schools which pay well and want teachers for at least 10 classes a week each.

Alex,
My degree is a basic English degree, so I don't have any EFL experience. Do I need a CELTA to teach English in Poland? If so, when are the classes and how much do they cost? I'm looking to teach in Poland for a year and then come back to the States, so I don't know if it would be worth it to get a CELTA.

I would suggest you try for a job OUTSIDE Warsaw. It is damned expensive there. Try southeastern Poland.

I know it will probably be more expensive in Warsaw, but most of my family is there so I'm pretty set on it.

You don't need a CELTA to work here but you do if you want to work for an even half-way decent school in Poland. In Warsaw you can only work at the really shit schools if you have no CELTA.
I think the CELTA run in Warsaw costs about 3600 zloty. It'd be money well spent. |

Bell wants 4750 PLN for the CELTA. Who offers it for less?
