It's a great short story--which has deservedly become a classic of the genre. The author, however, was Argentinian....

oh no, you don't believe me... whatever will i do with myself?
i'm just ignorant and I thought borges was a mexican because he writes in spanish, aren't all spanish-speaking people mexican? you're completely right, i didn't read the thread before contributing to it, i just saw the words "mexican novel" and thought of the only book i've ever read that was in spanish, you got me man. congratulations to you, i'll go back to watching reruns of mama's family while i eat a cheesesteak now. thanks.

rain of gold by victor villasenor is really good. anything by luis alberto urquilla is pretty damn good too. That's non fiction I suppose, but well worth a read. it's written in more narrative style anyway. I guess so is rain of gold, but again written in narrative style.
