Well, why not? Smile And for you guys who are so interested in "hookers'...well,we know a lot of the ladies of easy virtue like to ply their trade at conventions.

Well...semi-seriously...the venue of our first annual convention....I propose only three limitations:
1.It should be in a place that it is(reasonably) easy to get to without too much hassle getting into the country. This more or less lets out places like North Korea, etc. Also, let's forget about having it in places like East Timor or Djibouti...although some may diasgree with me on that...

2.It should be a place where we can enjoy ourselves and relax a little. This more or less lets out places like Saudi.Okay.I know...some people like Saudi....but

3.It should be a place where there is currently no war ...although some people might like to go to a war zone?

Anyway, let's hear your thoughts on this one.i must admit,I feel a certain curiosity to meet some of the people on the forum(well, yes, some I hope I NEVER meet)...but I am even interested in meeting some of the flamethrowers.Maybe they are saner in person? Or who knows? Maybe they are CRAZIER in person! Laughing

Good suggestion, bnix! I go along with your limitations too!

How about meeting in MACAU?

- Virtually SARS-free!
- RIght on the doorstep of TEFL's largest market!
- Offers all the amenities and conveniences we need and wish for!
- It is affordable, and probably nobody's current home turf!
- Excellent food, and excellent range of foods and wines!
- And, it is my favourite place in Greater China!

Ladies of easy virtue? Plenty if you go to any hotel...

Sounds like a good one, Roger. A place where all of the conventional (and unconventional, too) "Poster People" can meet and well....whatever.Anyway...good choice! Smile

So is this convention just to be for outstanding, upright men of impeccable virtue?

Welllll...Elaine...as far as I am concerned...the distaff side of the forum is certainly welcome to come.If we limit ourselves to outstanding men of impeccable character...it might be a SMALL convention,And as far as I am concerned...those poor mediocre souls are welcome to come, too.Let's be democratic about this thing.Upstanding?...well..I don't know...they might be upstanding for awhile.

By the way,Elaine, you are certainly welcome to come as far as I am concerned.I know...but maybe you don't WANT to come, right?By the way, your avatar is interesting. What kind of a rara avis is that, anyway?
See you in Macau.

Whatever. The important thing is to get a lot of people there and have fun.And please...no talking"shop" at the convention....f you want to do that, you can go to that convention given by that TESOL thing based in Alexandria. Smile

Of course, "convention" sounds too, hmm, shall we say: Classical? Businesslike?
How about "TEFL Halloween's Weekend"?

I will dress up as Mephisto!

No talkiong shop - we can do that on Dave's forums!
So you newbies and old hands - welcome!

Thailand is an ideal venue.Let's be realistic about this...we're all teachers and Thailand is cheap.Remaining 'upright' might be a problem though.

Elaine, let's meet up at the convention and we can help each other to keep our virtue in check. Just so that we don't go into an attack frenzy at the mere whiff of some male testosterone.
Bnix, Elaine's avatar is a white female callgirlopagus bird as yet unmated, it turns a pink colour after attending a TESOL Convention.

Is there going to be a dinner dance? If so, I'll come if either Bnix or Mr Biffinbridge wears a purple tutu and matching wig - and they lead the first dance together!
