I'd guess that you really haven't lived until you experience one of the gentler rolling earthquakes of Central America...and probably wouldn't if it were any more than that!! Only yesterday, while we were hosting a Latin American 'Knowledge Bowl' the rolling Earth cought our attention immediately. A couple of strudents dove for cover - most didn't take it very seriously...a potential 'last' mistake I surmise...

Glad I live on the Peninsula of the Hammocks instead of in the Valley of the Hammocks. Here we get the occasional hurricane to rock us to sleep in our hammocks but no earthquakes to shake us out of them.

I was sleeping under a ceiling fan after the 1st earthquake in 2001. Every night, the aftershocks woke me up, and what I remember most is the way the fan rocked from side to side as well as circling around and around. I just kept imagining it falling onto my face. Scary.
