As an ex-Hongkonger I am rather curious to know what's going on at english Schools Foundation?
The ESF is in the headlines again, almost every couple of months they are. Actually, I liked my students studying there; some teachers were a bit snobbish though.

Do you think their days are numbered? Are they going to be cut out of the HK pie? Their subvention is on the line, and thus their livelihood; once parents have to fork out $90'000 per annum students might enrol at other schools with different curricula.
How strong are chances for this to happen?
]And, is it true that the majority of students hail from overseas-born CHinese and local hong Kong families?

I don't subscribe to the SCMP on-line so I can't send you the newspaper article about the ESF and I'm too busy to type it all out for you but the jist of the newspaper report is as follows:-

ESF badly run, that is, its governance, administration, and funding. There'll be no resignations. Governance is too large for efficient decision-making. Administrations guidelines for schools are inadequate. Financial management is bad as its high ration of liabilities to current assets could put it as risk. Salary reviews found senior staff paid at directorate grade civil service rates and teachers' salaries higher than 7 large international schools. Payments, expenses and benefits awarded to senior staff exceeding entitlements but no explanation given for this.

ESF argues it should be regarded as part of the international school system. 70per cent of students' parents are permanent residents, 10 pc are local. ESF told to reform or face cuts....
