I'm wanting to get a flight from either HK to Osaka. Leaving on the 25 Jan 2005, and returning on the 27th.

I'm told that it may be cheaper to leave from Shenzen?

Does anyone know any travel agents or websites that may offer cheap flights?

And where's Peaches these days? Banter

A friend of mine got a return Shanghai to Shengzhen for RMB 1100 If you can track down a mainland Chinese travel agent then it's probably cheaper than flying out of Hong Kong.

I don't know what the cost is to Osaka, but I find Eva Air is a good alternative flying out from HK. Economical compared to other airlines, good service and reliable.

"Where is Peaches?" I'm pretty sure that I saw him in Hong Kong Records in Festival Walk last night, generally making a nuisance of himself, insulting the staff, using a patronising, pompous English accent. Complaing about the prices of CDs; "Everybody knows HMV is the most expensive CD shop in Hong Kong, this is outrageous, how can you have the same price as HMV?" "This is the most I have seen this CD anywhere in Hong Kong." Had to be Ludwig, who else would complain, when they've seen it cheaper and could buy it at the cheaper place? Made me so proud to be English, standing next to the arrogant imbecile, trying to quietly buy my DVD.

Thanks for the advice. I checked out lastminute.com.hk, evaair.com and a few others, and the lowest price i can get is aboot 1900 HKD. Not bad, but not exactly the bargain I am looking for...I'll keep looking around.

Besides, I thought 25th to 27th January would be out of peak season and therefore cheaper; is there a holiday I'm forgetting aboot? Chinese New Year starts in the middle of February right?

I also thought I saw Ludwig the other day; a man in the MTR scolding a member of staff because a vending machine had swallowed some of his hard earned dollars.
I guess Peaches is flying under the radar at the moment. He won't come out until the bait is sweet enough.

Flights to Osaka won't be especially cheap, as there is less of a monmopoly of airlines to that destination.

Flying through Shenzhen can be cheap if you're going around the mainland, but not for international flights.

Check out ANA, JAL and Cathay Pacific, the only airlines to do the route directly. otherwise you'll have to change, probably in taipei.

I's be surprised if you got it for under $2000.

Thanks for your advice everyone. Seems like 1900 hkd might be a good deal after all.
And it's good to know that flying out from HK will be just the same price as flying from the mainland (as it's still an international flight)...more convenient too.

I was wandering where Ludwig went too. He came back under two names, 2 up lee and english farce, but has since disappeared after I clocked him. No doubt he'll be back soon, but this has been quite a long absence.

Shenzhne is good only if you fly to Chinese cities. For international flights, HK is cheaper usually.

Some people know that when I exposed him as Chinadimdrone he launched a personal attack against me of such outrageous vitriol that he was banned. He always comes back though - and these forums need his spark. I am constantly stunned that someone so bright can be equally as bonkers and cruel! Never mess with an English teacher who wishes he was doing something else!

He is a true Moriarty and I would love him to know I meant that as a complement.

I suspect his IP address might have been blocked completely. Usually he's back on within a couple of days.

As English farce he sent me a couple of abusive emails when I pointed out it was him, but I deleted them.
