Does anyone know if there is a Spanish equivilant of the Cambridge exams, like the PET? FCE? CAE? or other exams such as the TOEFL? |

The 'Escuela Oficial de Idiomas' offers exams in different languages. They used to be well regarded in the country, but I think they are losing importance to Cambridge. They are 'official' schools, so they're generally cheaper than private academies, but then, you could have over 20 people in your class (I believe).
As far as I know there are two main exams - one at level 3 and one at level 5. Level 5 is supposedly higher than FCE, although I'm not too sure about that. |

The Spanish exam similar to the Cambridge exams is called the DELE (Diploma de Espaol como Lengua Extranjera). It's recognized by the Ministry of Education and has 3 levles--intermediate, high-intermediate, and superior. To register for the exam you need to contact the Instituto Cervantes which has schools all over the world. |
