Lower american cultures. that has a lovely ring to it
Where exactly is the rest of the world, I've always wondered. Looking at a list of Miss Universe winners, I see
2003 Dominican Rep
2002 Panama
2001 Puerto Rico
2000 India
1999 Botswana
1998 Trinidad and Tobago
1997 USA (rest of the world?)
1996 Venezuela
1995 Usa
1994 India
1993 Puerto Rico
1992 Namibia
1991 Mexico (bravo girl!)
1990 Norway
1989 Holland
1988 Thailand
1987 Chile
1986 Venezuela
1985 Puerto Rico
1984 Sweden
1983 New Zealand
1982 Canada
1981 Venezuela
I count 10 out of 23 past winners coming from 'lower American cultures'
Paulie, there should be a rule on how long after you make a post that you can edit. Something like the three-second rule when dropping food on the floor I should think.
tsk, tsk, how Orwellian of you

I like your new photo, Guy...you look a bit like you're from...
No, no...let's not go there!
Guy, I did everything I could do to keep from sounding 'racist' - I even capitalized Lower (being below the US southern border) - honestly - I would have thought that you'd pick on the blatant bourgwazy of my statement first! |

keeping an eye on thigns as you can see from my new pic...
Sorry, I wrote it harder than I probably meat to.
I get irked at such writing though. I just love this part of the world so much that I'll defend it when they ask me too, and when they don't as well. |

That's OK - just don't do it again or I'll have to find out a bit more about you! |

I thought this Forum was for discussion about jobs. Am I not right? It's just I feel the purpose of the Forum is being lost with all the other comments. Anyone agree?

The current position of Miss World 2004 has been filled by a young lady from Peru. We regret to inform that all applications for the position of Miss World will now be taken into consideration for 2005
lol sorry I couldn't resist |

I did and that's my point. In five days it's moved twelve places down the pecking order. So genuine comments about jobs/opportunities get lost with all the other stuff.
Obviously others don't agree with me, but this Forum never used to be like this.

If somene posts a respone to your questions, you'll notice that the thread refreshes puting it back to the top. Don't worry, I think most of us here capable of answering your question tend to read all the new posts, as far down as they go.
If no one answers, and the post gets shuffled down, then perhaps no one has a response. |

With a Peruvian mother I cannot tell you how
delighted I was when I heard who won, check
the threads here about peoples comments on what they
consider 'beautiful' (who are the hottest women in Latin
America)
People keep coming up with 'European is best' crap
and one of the Andean countries who are derided
as ugly take the crown deservedly against all these
European beauties... bravo! |

these "t &a" contests are just another thing that makes this part world decades behind the rest of humanity. Superficial garbage such as this just adds to the increasing amount of "airheads" who are more concerned about the shape of their bods rather than the state of their minds.
"congratualations ?" Bull! Wrong forum. Take it somewhere else. |

This is nothing but mindism, mindist rant. What's a body to do eh? And what of this culture race. Who set the rules? Who's in front. Who's on first. I'll bet the Americans and the Brits are neck and neck, whipping each other's horse going round that final bend in the world cultural domination derby. Mind your manners and nobody will notice you. If latin americans and others of their ilk want to imitate american culture then at least they should try and do it right eh? Perhaps there should be cultural imitation classes given by academically approved instructors. Decades behind, horrers.
Who says that mind is more important than body anyway? Without a body the mind is nothing but a dream in the void of eternity. Of course a better, more refined, more educated and degreed mind is where it's at. Ask any paper carrying english teacher. A pox on the backpacking scum sullying the "honorable profession". Teaching should be the sole domain of the upper class mind - the approved educator. After all we of the "first world" learned english the proper way - at the hands of skilled and approved instructors. Certainly not on the streets with our playmates and in the home with our families! Heaven forbid.
