Hey,
I signed a contract for one year, but i am thinking of calling it a day after the first semester. When do I inform my school, will they punish me, and how do I obtain another visa (business, student, etc) so that i can stay in the same city?
Hope you can help me out here.

Another opportunist, or what?
What makes you believe we all have the same rights and duties? My contract clearly stipulates a penalty if I "call it a day" without valid reasons. Not yours?
Furthermore, it also spells out how many months ahead I must serve them notice of my intention to quit. My airfare would then be prorated if they find my excuse to be valid. |

Thank you,

Arno
It ENTIRELY depends on the wording of your contract.
My last contract had a clause which said that the school or I could give 30 days notice of cancellation of the contract - no questions asked. If I cancelled - no airfare. If they cancelled - airfare would be payable.
My current contract also has a clause which states that I can cancel with 30 days notice PLUS I must pay a 4,000 RMB penalty AND forfeit airfare. If the university cancels they must pay me 4,000 RMB plus airfare.
So, what does your contract say? |
