Hi all,

We've been told by a couple of local people that we have befriended that there is a FREE bus service that runs around Taoyuan. However, our friends couldn't give us any more info as they all have their own private transport. Does anyone know anything about this free bus? Or how can I find out about it?

Also, does anyone have the address of the Tourist Office in Taoyuan.

Many thanks
Karen and David

Free buses depart from the government circle road in Taoyuan near the main police station and branch off in various directions. They are the really small minibuses you may or may not have seen from time to time. One runs from the government road down fuxing road toward the train station. Another heads up back roads towards the tesco. They're only useful if you're going to specific places. I haven't ridden on one in quite a while. When you get motorized, things'll get better.

To my knowledge, Taoyuan has no tourist office. Taoyuan can be a real intimidating place when you're starting out. PM me again if I can help you at all.

Hi all

Steve, thanks again for the info. For anyone else who is interested in this topic - we have actually discovered that the bus runs all the way along Jungjeng (or Jhung Jheng, depending on the map you're looking at), turns into Dashing road then goes all the way along Dayou road towards central Taoyuan. I think it goes along Jungshan road as well before turning back into Jungjeng to make complete the circuit. To catch it, you have to look for the bus stops which have a completely cirucular sign, and it comes approximately on the hour. I haven't actually caught it yet, but I'm definitely gonna!

Cheers
