Hi everyone,
I would like to enrol into a Master's programme specializing in teaching English as a second language. I have looked into two programmes: the MATESL at City U and the M.Ed in English language studies at HKU. Both programmes look good but I am having difficulty deciding which one is better for me. Does anyone have any insight regarding the two programmes.

| I'm going to go with Hong Kong University's M.A. in Applied Linguistics. The cost is reasonable (72,000 Hong Kong Dollars or slightly less than $10000 US Dollars for a 2 year program) and the entrance exam is not too bad either. I think the program director is named Cecilia Shu, but am not 100 percent on that. |

| I haven't taken the course yet but it looks good. Of course I am hearing that people prefer M.A.'s from the states so I have to think about it. |

| Would you happen to know the degree of difficulty of the entrance exam? I have not taken a course in linguistics. |
