Just curious if anyone has some insight into what it is like for a married couple to find employment in Thailand. Are schools in Thailand open to taking couples? Are there visa issues? In regards to visas would it be possible for me to work and my spouse not? I've started emailing possible employers and I am somewhat worried that if I mention that I am married, they will disregard my application. Any general suggestions on being married and finding a teaching position overseas would be greatly appreciated. Just an afterthought but I have three years of ESL experience overseas while this would be my spouse's first time overseas as a teacher. Thanks for any input!

If anything I'd say schools prefer married people to single people. You're less likely to go out on the razzle etc. So I doubt many schools would be put off by the fact that you're married, they should prefer it IMO!

I can help you with the Visa info, but what are your quals so I know if you (and your partner if you tell me his/hers as well) qualify for a work permit etc. Let me know and it should be very easy to answer for you.

My husband and I are both working at the same school - hired together, and they actually adjusted schedules so that we could teach in the same building. We had no problems whatsoever as a married couple Smile

Ditto the above
I think schools prefer couples. When I was DoS, I always did! They're so much more stable.
