If I posted an ad that read...

Help wanted: 'avowed secular-humanist, free-will non-moral absolutist atheistic' types only.

how would the world react?

Just as it is...I'd suppose...

Fortunately, the ad for my job read much differently...and was posted on a Christian organization website - so there was no confusion as to what I was 'getting in to'...but, to tell you the truth - I was about as apprehensive as one could be before I decided to come! It truly was...one of the most difficult teaching positions I have had to contemplate...

That said...the other offer I had was to teach at a Christian oriented school in the heart of Indonesia - a predominantly Muslim nation!
Yes...true...they DESIRE Christians in their state-run schools!...and NO WONDER!!!

Later...

Maybe you can answer this from experience...

Do Christian organizations, when hiring teachers, require that the teacher declare a Christian faith in order to be considered for a position? I would assume so, but perhaps you have some insight?

Just in case you're thinking of applying yourself toward that persuasion (how could I be so naieve)...they, of couse, want a profession of faith.

Many people consider themselves to be 'christian', i.e. christian beliefs or because they live in a 'christian' nation - but then there are those who a actually committed to Christianity...and then there are those who are just simply committed. Laughing

Have you been following the Scott Peterson case in the good ole' USA?

Now the death penalty is most certainly a decisive one...for Christian, christian, and non-christian alike!

First off, I hereby declare it be Christmas, or as we Canadians say, it's reindeer hunting season!

How did we get to the death penalty? I haven't checked too much on the Peterson case. It's depressing, like Columbine, Waco, and Iraq.

I suppose capital punishment is pretty decisive. Here's a question. If it were the decision of a Christian to put someone to death for a crime committed, what would the Lord say of that Christian? I believe there is a lot the Bible would comment on that. Thinking Bush here as gov of Texas...

Maybe someone else will get involved in this discussion - I think two minds - no matter how brilliant - need interaction from others or they might start (God forbid) thinking alike! I'd have some difficulty thinking like you...

Perhaps we scare away comments from others...

I think the thought of you thinking like me is a ponderous one indeed. The thought has occured to me that your thinking like me would be thought of as unthinkable.

I think.

you ducked the question
